What is IELTS?
  • IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, tests English proficiency and is the most popular English test in the world - over 1 million tests are done every year across the world.
Who accepts IELTS?
  • With over 6000 organizations accepting the test, it is the most widely accepted measure of English proficiency. Universities, government agencies, immigration authorities and large corporates all accept IELTS scores.
Why take the IELTS?
  • If you want to study or work abroad, you will need to take the IELTS. A minimum score on the IELTS is mandatory for those wishing to study or work in the UK, USA and Canada. US and Irish universities also accept the IELTS.
What is the test format and how long will it take?
  • IELTS is broken into four parts - Listening (30 minutes), Reading (60 minutes), Writing (60 minutes) and Speaking (11-14 minutes). The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
When is the exam available?
  • The exam is held every month at official locations
What is the scoring system?
  • IELTS is graded out of 9. For example, a 7 means you are considered 'Upper Intermediate' in English.
How much is the IELTS?
  • It costs INR 9,900 in India.
How long is it valid for?
  • The exam result has a validity for up to two years.
